Hello,

Americans know that excess weight puts us at risk for a number of diseases, so weight loss and exercise are at the forefront of our minds. To achieve that goal, many head out for the local drugstore's health and beauty aisle to reach for the latest drug based product to lose weight. Of course, it's not that easy but we can receive natural help without taking drugs; savvy consumers are learning about natural food substances that enhance weight loss without the dangerous side effects of drugs. One such substance is that all around spice - cinnamon. Right. Almost all homes have it right there on their kitchen shelf, the natural pharmacy.

Cinnamon benefits

Yes, good old cinnamon, the same great stuff that is so good in pies, cakes, donuts, cookies and other sweets. 9 Of course, to lose weight forget about all those goodies for just a little while!). Scientists conducting a USDA study have found that cinnamon has beneficial antioxidants that are beneficial in battling heart disease and diabetes.

How does cinnamon affect weight loss? Well, fat cells are more likely to store glucose in the abdomen since there is a large blood supply there, due to the presence of the digestive organs. Interestingly, glucose is readily stored in the abdomen due to this blood supply. This is why this abdominal fat is associated with metabolic syndrome, which is a precursor to numerous disease including diabetes and heart disease.

How much should I take?

It is recommended to take 1/2 teaspoon to two teaspoons daily. But, of course, taper this dose to your own stomach and any other medical conditions that you may have. (Those with sensitive stomachs should taper the amount to their own needs. Also please get your health care provider's okay - just to be on the safe side. (Diabetics may find that they need a reduction in their medication).

There are also many interesting recipes that can help with this recommended dosage: cinnamon with applesauce, cinnamon in hot drinks, such as the flavored coffees. Oatmeal and other cereal are great ideas to enjoy this wonderful spice with. So, have fun and experiment with the recipes.
Your health will thank you. :patriot:

One teaspoon of cinnamon per day can boost the body's weight-loss ability by reducing blood sugar and promoting healthier processing of carbohydrates. It also lowers LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) by seven to 27% and total cholesterol by 12 to 26%. Plus, cinnamon has been shown to prevent the metabolic syndrome commonly seen in pre-diabetics.

It can, in some people, under certain conditions. For others, it will make absolutely no difference and have no effect whatsoever. Also, you have to make sure to get a very high quality, very pure kind of cinnamon, or cinnamon capsules. Especially with capsules, there is often plenty of stuff added that negates the possible health benefits of cinnamon. For example silicon dioxide (to make it stay nice and fluffy), Magnesium Stearate, Coumarin (especially in low quality cinnamon) and others. Those things can have side effects ranging from fatigue to liver trouble.

So it sounds like people are much better off buying cinnamon in the supermarket if they want to try this rather than getting capsules. Maybe incorporating it into their cooking.

From the looks of it, yes. Get some good quality cinnamon and work it into a meal or something. Much better than capsules.

Yeah sure it is! Cinnamon is very important for health in many other ways like:
-Cinnamon regulates blood sugar
-It reduces harmful cholesterol levels
-It is helpful to reduce the multiplicational growth of cancer cells and more.
