Can calorie calculators be wrong?

Over the past three months I have worked incredibly hard to loose weight and I reached my goal in a very quick time. However I am now faced with the more daunting task - to maintain the weight I have lost. I used a calorie counter to find out how many calories I should have per day to maintain my weight - all based on my height, age, current weight and level of activity.

I worry that because I lost weight so quickly if I eat the amount of calories the calorie calculator tells me to I will put on weight and find myself in a couple of months back at square one.

Please help! Thank you, Matthew

Awesome you've reached your goal weight :)
Maintaining your goal weight is definitely the trickiest part of weight loss, and might be even more so since you've lost the weight quickly.
Rather than focusing on calories, I'd focus on the quality of your diet. Ask yourself: do you have the right balance of protein, healthy fats, carbs? Are you eating plenty of colourful veggies? Get the balance right and you shouldn't have to worry about calories again. To directly answer your question, yes calorie counters can be wrong. They are just an average value for the food, they will never be exact. Same goes for nutrients in food when you're reading a label. I'm not sure what the margin of error is allowed to be.
I'd also suggest you do some resistance training (if you're not already). Building/maintaining your muscle mass is a great way to ramp up your metabolism and keep that fat burning.
