calve raising?

does anyone know how to do calve raises.well anyways most poeple do them with a step or weights and stuff like that.I do them just by simply standing on my tipy toes and coming back down on my foot heels,i dont use weights a step,dumbells anything.just my feet.Is my way of calve raising going to make my legs stronger.any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
well, that way you can't go all the way down and get full rom. And it's probobly just way too easy. Try it on a step with one leg and go all the way down.
 
I used to do these before I started going to the gym but even know I will throw them into the workout.
Hold a dumbbell on your right side and do tippy toe raises with right leg only use your left arm to hold on to something for balance. 4-5set of 15-20 reps on each leg will definately improve your calfs
 
i've been hurdling and jumping for a long time and calf raises on the steps don't do anything for me. (not sure about the name of the machine) go to a leg press machine and just do the same thing you would do on the stairs.
