Sport calories?

i always read " bsaed on a 2000 calorie diet" why 2000? do i have to have 2000? i figured out im taking in about 1,085 before workout,( we have a pretty good size gym at work) then go home and eat dinner. so is that enough or what. i heard you need to burn more then your intake, so if i do that, am i ok at 1,085 or do i need the  full 2000?

I believe the 2000 is based on an "average" persons calories burned per day. As in, on average, most people's bodies use 2000 calories per day, therefore if you intake that amount, you will maintain current weight.

You intake less, you lose. YOu intake more, you gain.

Thats my understanding of that. Now, how that applies to individuals that workout on a daily basis...I have no clue.

actually thats based on a 2000 calories high carb diet
for atkins it would be 2500, zone about 2250 and ultra low fat about 1800

it really depends on the macros as well, then activity, lifestyle, genetics, hormones ect

calories are a guess, establish a baseline for yourself then add to gain weight ro subtract to loose weight (about 500 calories a day to loose 1 lb a week) give or take

keep it simple eh?

LOL

If you want a more direct route without guessing much, go to this website to get a better idea of where you should start... Then subtract 500 calories from that number, and then you should have that many calories throughout the day... try to eat 5 times a day...

What you can do is take your goal calories and just divide it by 5, so then each time you eat, you know roughly how many calories you should be consuming...

Check out for an online food-database...

I was wondering about fat calories in food. Are they different from the regular number of calories in the nutrition label, or can someone explain that? I'm trying to keep track of how much exercise and the calories I take in, so it's kind of confusing :)

4 calories per gram of carbs
4 per 1g of protein
9 calories per 1 g of fat
7 calories for alcohol (and they count as carbs)
7 for mct's (count as fat)

there are others but thats the base
