calories vr. fat calories

This is more of a health question realy but here it goes, what is the difference of calories as opposed to calories from fat? I know basicly what a calorie is but I dont know how a calorie can be from fat? And finaly, on a 2000 calorie diet what is the ratio of how many calories from fat to how many normal calories? well I think that pretty much covers it, thx for listenin'

Calories are the amount of energy in the food. 1 gram of fat has 9 calories in it. (1 gram of protien or carbohydrate has 4 calories). The calories from fat on a nutritional label are roughly the grams of fat multiplied by 9. I say roughly because it'snot exact math all the time...not sure why.

I think how many calories you get from fat on a daily basis depends on what your current goals are. If memory serves I believe 30% is a good number. So 30% of 2000 is 600. 600 divided by 9 is 66 2/3. So you can eat around 67 grams of fat per day (Preferably unsaturated)

Oh...one last thing...2000 calories is the standard used for food labels. This number could vary a great deal based on your goals, genes, and activity levels (I hear marathoners can take in 5000+ calories a day and burn every one of em').
