I know you all are probly like "ugghh another calorie question" but I truley come on here for help and ask question when I dont know.

I would just like to know if the food im eating is actually enough, or too much.
This is a sample of what my typical meals are:

Breakfast (7:00am)
WW english muffin
1 tbsp low fat veg cream cheese
Coffee
Water

Snack (10:00am)
Pre-made protien shake in a can (lol sounds gross)
Water

Lunch (noon-ish)
Lowfat chicken deli meat on ww bun with veg
OR
100 calorie soup
String cheese
apple
yogurt
water

Dinner
meat and protien and veg
OR
healthy steamer things (from walmart)
water

Snack
Fruit/popcorn/low fat pudding (not all 3)
lots of water!

And i usually have a "free day" on sundays
and i have like an icecream or lasagna...stuff like that

So just let me know if you think this is a meal plan that is ok...

I also heard about the 400 cal diet
where you eat 3 meals that are 400 cals
and 2 snacks at 200 cal each.

Thanks
Kate

I'm gonna go with the teach a man to fish thing here.

Allrighty, first of all use one of the many wonderful online caloric need calculators and figure out what your approximate caloric need is.. then.. substract something like 4-700 calories. This number is your new starting out number.

Now you simply look at the packaging of the food you eat and figure out how many calories are in there.. if a WW english muffin has .. for instance.. 240 kcal / 100g then you simply weigh it, lets say it weighs 70 grams.. then you go (kcal per 100g) / 100 * (weight in grams) and voila you know the amount of calories you have in your ww thing.. you then go on doing that for all your food :)

If you are an american I'm sure it'll be per oz or something.. but the principle is the same

(kcal per XY) / X * (weight of food in Y)

where Y is the unit in which the food is measured and X is the amount used to describe the foods nutrional value. Where I live it is always written on the package as "something something per 100g"

there ya go :) now break out that calculator and kick ass!

Yea, I agree with the above post.

I've never understood when people come on here posting their food asking if it's enough calories. Why make others do the leg work? Simply sign up to one of the free databases, like , and plug in your food.

Then you can come here asking specific questions about your diet. Like:

1. Is X amount of calories right for someone with my stats and goals?

2. Is Y grams of protein too much or too little?

3. I see my fat grams are really low, what are some ways I can increase my intake healthily?

I'm not ragging on you. I'm simply trying to help you get to a spot where you're asking better questions and thus learning useful things.

I never asked anyone to do the leg work, it was just me simply asking someone to look over what I eat. I should of worded my question dfferently.
IF you dont like people asking these questions, then you shouldnt answer them.

but thanks for giving be some advice.

But Kate, people ARE answering your question.

You asked: I would just like to know if the food im eating is actually enough, or too much.

No one can answer that question without figuring out how many calories you're eating. In order to do that, someone here would have to "do the legwork" as was said and enter all of this into a calorie calculator or food diary site to even begin to know how to answer your question.

ANd even then, looking over what you eat as you posted it, I couldn't begin to tell you. For example:

Pre-made protien shake in a can (lol sounds gross)
Some of these have as little as 100 calories, some of them have as much as 500 calories. I have no idea which one you're drinking.

meat and protien and vegWhat kind of meat? 3 oz of beef has more calories than 3 oz of chicken. 3 oz of fish has more protein than 3 oz of beef. Etc.

When you say "fruit" - what kind of fruit do you mean, and how much? 1 medium banana is 120 cals. 3/4 cup of blueberries is 80 cals. That's a pretty significant difference. I could look at what you posted and say "yeah that looks fine" and it could be 500+ calories too much for you.

No one can answer what you're asking w/out knowing more - and at the point that you give us the information you need, you might as well have registered on fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and gotten all the figures yourself ... so that you can ask more specific questions.

Ok, so now adding to that, you put nothing in your post about your current weight, exercise, etc. So I don't even know what to tell you about how many calories you SHOULD be eating to begin with. So maybe you're eating 1600 calories and that's enough. Or maybe you're eating 1600 calories an that's too many - I have no idea.

And sure you've made 112 posts to the site, but I don't have time to go searching through all your old posts to find the information I need to give you an informed answer.

So .. I'm not trying ot be mean or harsh here. I'm really not. I'm saying, however, don't get pissy when people don't answer the question you ask the way you want it answered - because you haven't given us enough information to answer the question for you.

That's a real shame you're taking that route. I'll steer clear from you going forward.

Best to you.

Im sorry you took it the wrong way, I did say thanks for the advice

I didnt know about needing all this information (ex. kinds of fruit, meat ammounts, height...so on) thats why I come on here so I can figure it out.

I appreciate everyones advice, and can now figure out all my stuff. But I apologize if you had taken in the wrong way steve.

ive been on here for 3 years and didnt know much then, and now still dont know much about this whole thing now, but ive started to actually do something about myself, and need all the information I can, as my friends and family dont have weight problems, and dont understand.

But like i said, I appreciate everyones answers and respect them.

main thing you'll need is portions. Such as kara mentioned.. beef, fish chicken, etc for 'meat' then there's also how much are you eating. On its face, it seems a bit on the light side, but given we don't know your height, weight, age and height, its near impossible to really say anything since there's no way to figure out your caloric needs.

if you don't want to give out the personal dimensions, simply google BMR calculator and fill in the info there and compare it to what you can figure out is your total caloric intake.
