Sport calorie intake

Sport Fitness
I have just read in a other thread that a lower calorie diet and cardio may actually not be great for losing fat. Im 19, 6ft tall and weigh 160lbs (i think, 75kg anyway). I'm eating a pretty clean diet, no junk food or unhealthy snacks and doing resistance and 25-30mins on the treadmill 4-5 times a week. Im a student so its really hard to monitor calorie intake but i can try. If anyone has any feelings or advice on this that would be great, cheers!

If you're looking to track your calories, try

To lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you intake. So you would need to lower your calories and do cardio. What you may be referring to is lowering your calories too much. At your height it may be better to put on about 10 pounds.

sorry, maybe i wasnt very clear. Is it a good idea to have a calorie deficit if im doing lots of cardio or not (i want to lose fat btw). Im eating 5-6 small meals a day...

well hi!

I have some feelings on that but not very informative advice or anything...

I do think that when you eat less calories than your body really needs depending on your activity level and metabolism level, your body WILL hold onto any fat you happen to put in it. yeah, i know that from experience.

When you eat a moderation of alot of healthy fats and calories and just be as active as you can, also doing the resistance training as well, you will be burning the fat and calories you put in your body the way it is designed to when your body is not out of balance due to too less of whatever it is you may be lacking.

I have never thought a good diet was to cut out a complete portion of the food pyramid....or to completely never eat anything sweet again...

i think you should keep everything in moderation, and your body will keep itself in balance....

as for a specific number of calories you should take in?? i am having the same question so that would be interesting to hear from someone else! Just thought I would voice my opinion ! Thanks for listening lol !
