Calorie Counters on Exercise machines

Are they accurate at all? I never feel really tired after running on them and it tells me that I've lost like 300 calories after half an hour.

Maybe it's just the machine we have but are the numbers they spit out anywhere close to what the... :confused:
 
The amount of calories that you are burning depends on a bunch of different factors one of them being your weight... I wouldn't get too hung up on what the machine says that the calories burned are... I think the time spent at your target heart rate is the important number.
 
haha I had this myself on my exercycle.
Most take into account only either your time or distance. They rarely take into account that perhaps you are going hard out for yourself, or that you were using the Hill mode etc and doing a much more intense workout.
 
Try using . It still isn't exactly accurate but from other sources I have compared to it is usually in a close range.
 
during the winter months I swear by life fitness equipment to do cardio... seems to be pretty accurate. Can't say for certain about any other brand though
