4 weeks tomorrow I go to the Golden State!!

Berkeley, Frisco, Santa Barbara and L.A.!!

Myself, my sister (almost 15) and my mummy.

I can't wait! Frisco is my ultimate favourite place anyway but I keep getting the idea that I'm going to conveniently bump into Li-Lo on sunset blvd an coming over all giddy (I know the chances of that happening are waayy slim - but hey a girl can dream)

So.. where do I HAVE to go??!!??!!

What types of things do you like to do?

Are you looking for shopping? tourist attractions? food?

What are some of your interests...

In San Fran:
A walk across the golden gate bridge
Alcatraz is pretty cool (be sure to get tickets in advance - they are generally not available day of)
A walk down lombard street - the crooked sectionis between hyde and lombard and there's a cable car stop there - walk down from there -it's pretty cool...

Coit tower on telegraph hill has some great artwork

Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf -

Chinatown for some awesome food (note: peak in the windows, if the restaurant is mosty caucasian - move on to another restaurant - go authentic.. )

Los angeles - ehh -leave
I'm not a fan of the city :(

the television studios are kind acool -you might be able to get tickets (try ahead of time) for the price is right or some other show... (I'd suggest Leno but I think there's an age restriction there)

I'm a zoo lover - so the oakland zoo is pretty good -

there's a chocolate factory Scharfen Berger that you can tour and sample...:)

I'm definitely goin to walk across the golden gate bridge, not done that since the first time I was in SF (10 years ago!) because last time we left it until the last day of my trip and I got really sick.

Alcatraz is amazing but I went last time so I'm not too fussed about it again tbh.

Lombard Street is also amazing.. remember my calves hurting though I think?? Hahaa..

As for LA, my Mum said the studios are shut over Easter so its unlikely we'll get tickets?? Oh well..

I'm hoping to go shopping but I think sunset boulevard is a little out of my price range? Hmm.. haha

I'm gonna ask her about DL but I dunno what she'll say.. as for the chocolate tour though.. :reddevil:

I lived in LA for the past year and there is a lot to do. Go to Santa Monica peir. For lunch, you have to try RawVolution. It has the most amazing healthy food. You can tell by the name that all the food is served raw (no meats are served so dont worry) and its all organic. You wont be dissapointed. As much as I hate it, you need to go to the LaBrea tar pits at least once in your life(NOTE: You will hate the smell of natural methane).

I spend quite a bit of time in LA/Hollywood, and there's loads upon loads to do. There isn't a lot of shopping on Sunset...except the Hustler store and I'm unsure if you want to take your mom there! you are better off on Melrose. There's a rad thrift store called Aardvark's, an amazing comic store called Golden Apple, and you MUST hit up the weirdo stores Necromance and Origin of the Species next to the smoke shop on the corner of Pointsettia. There's loads of clothing/shoe stores up and down this street. Another great place to go is the Farmer's Market on Fairfax...you can spend all day there as there's movie a movie theater and lots of shopping. If you are at all into music, hit up Amoeba on Sunset: it's the single largest CD/record shop I've ever seen as it spans the entire block. And there's always Venice Beach...between the body builders, the street performers, and the heavily tattooed folk playing handball, there's always something interesting to observe.
