Hi all,

To calculate the calorie content of food, do you base it on the weight before or after cooking?

For example, I noticed today that 2 slices of bacon weighed 69 grams out of the pack. After grilling them, they weighed 30 grams.

On the pack, the calorie content is 207 per 100g as sold.

So is the calorie content

207 X 0.69 = 143

or

207 X 0.30 = 62

Thanks for your help.

Before cooking is standard.
But you will find online nutrition databases that will give you a round about cooked number. But that varies based on how each person decided to cook it (fried, baked, saute, boiled etc)
