Buying supplements/vitamins/etc.

Was just wondering, what is the major difference in buying supplements, vitamins, etc. from places like GNC and other "specialty" stores like that, and buying at places like Wal*Mart or Target or the likes? I'm wondering because I've noticed that you can get things like Whey, Creatine Monohydrate, Fish Oil, Flax Seeds and Omega 3 products from Wal*Mart for much less than GNC and other stores of that nature, they just don't have the "name brands" like the latter would have. Just not sure why I would go there to pay $50, if I can get the same thing, just not a name brand, at Wal*Mart, for say $30???

Jeez that was a quick reply! LOL. I agree with what you're saying though. I figured that it mainly just had to do with what the actual contents were and all. I also fully agree with GNC being extremely overpriced. One thing that really scares me about buying *anything* really though, is that when it comes to things like whey, creatine, etc., I'm not sure what the "right" ingredients are to look for and which ingredients I want to stay away from.
