busting the goal

is it normal to bust a goal and want more. in my particular situation.

my run and swim ill start with my swim (i know this sint a swimming forum)
started at 450mtrs time was 14:30+ i needed to do it in 12:30, i said ill be happy when i get to 12:00. i busted 12 and wanted 11 i wasnt happy with 11 once i got there.busted 11, now im at 10:07 and i want 9:00

now on my 1.5 mi. run i needed to get my run to 11:30 in boots and pants. i started running in shoes busted 11:00 wanted to bust 10:30
ran my test in boots and pants in 12:34 need to get to 11:30 my goal was11:20 that would leave me 10 seconds to spare.

i busted that tonight, i ran 1.5 mi. in 11:05 now im not happy with that i want 10:30

is this normal?
 
Define "Normal".

Sounds normal to me. I'm always trying to beat my best time.

But last night my husband told me that the reason I hang out with people who are as physically active as I is so that we can think that we are normal when everyone else thinks we're crazy. (Kinda like how computer geeks think they are normal).
