Burned a Stop sign.. Ticket... by mail??

OK so I just got pulled over for burning a stop sign.
The cop says:"Please tell me you have a good reason for this. PLEASE!"(he was pissed off)
I say: "I'm sorry I was distracted, my mom just got a phone that from my grandmother saying he was in the hospital"(yes,ok I lied.)
He then goes on and asks for license and everything and then goes back to his car. Comes back and says: "There are strong chances you will receive it by mail, Drive carefully"

So I told my parents and they were obviously pissed. But then they asked for the ticket and I said that the cop said he was gonna <<send it by mail>> and I've asked pretty much everyone I know and even asked my aunt who is a cop and she said she's never heard of such a thing.

So this is why I'm asking if you've ever been pulled over and that the cop has said he would send the ticket by mail?

I've never heard of a cop actually saying that when he pulled you over. The only times I've ever heard of were when you got tagged by a camera that caught your license plate.

Seriously though, you could've hurt someone!

Neither has anyone I know. I'm in eternal hope he was trying to scare me, though I don't think so.
Yeah I know, I was in a hurry.

I once kind of rolled through a stop sign and got pulled over when I was about 19 (I guess it's called a California Stop) and when the cop told me why I said "yeah, I guess I didn't come to a complete stop, sorry" He was so taken aback that I admitted it he told me to be careful and let me go

I never completely stop when I see there are no other cars around, i just slow down and go.

i think hes just messing with you, i've never heard of a cop mailing the ticket when he could have written it and given it to you then. Probably just trying to scare you into not doing it again, but maybe Im wrong.

Cops generally really appreciate humility and respect. Admit to what you did, be respectful - and you'll get out of a ticket a lot more often. The last time I got a ticket the guy felt bad, but I had got pulled over in the same place 2 weeks before and he said he just couldn't let me go again lol

Why did you get pulled over?

Same, I kinda just look and make sure knowones around, but he was VERY(notice the very) well hidden. Everyone whom I've asked says he was just trying to scare the **** outta me. Well I guess I got lucky, but he did scare me, I am MUCH more careful now than I was before

We have an area we call the "Big 3" - you're going along at 70 - then it drops to 60-50-45 one right after the other. The state troopers LOVE to bust people who don't slow down fast enough.

People fly through the stop sign in front of my house all the time. It drives me nuts.

when I was 18 I received two tickets in the mail from a town in South New Jersey that I had never been to in my life. (i lived in North NewJersey at the time) I called the police department, asked about it, I was able to talk to the officer that wrote the summons.

He asked, "do you dive this kind of car?" I said nope, He said, "are you black?" I said, "no, I am white" he said well the person I pulled over had your information.

I asked if I could go to my police department and have a affidavid sent to the court to have the tickets dismissed He said no I had to show in court, of course now my parents and I are worried that someone is running around with my information.

Long story short, it comes down to the day of the court case, they are calling out names, they call out my name, and at the same time I said "here, a young black man in the same row as me, said, "here" as well.

Turned out he had the same name, but didn't have his license on him when the cop pulled him over. But he had the original tickets. Turns out the cop pulled my information from the computer, not the kid he pulled over.

The case against me was dismissed, and since the cop pulled wrong the information the other kid by the same name case was dismissed, and the cop was standing there like an idiot. The kid and I shook hands and off we went.

My brother was a NJ state trooper, he went with me and helped argue the case to the DA for the kid when the town cop tried to "correct" his mistake. My brother figured it is at least he could do for the kid, who Showed up in good faith.

You probably will only get a warning. he was probably having a bad day, and now adays giving warnings is hard since it is being videotaped by the cops car, so if they give you a "lead" like that take it and come up with a Good BS to help the cop help you out of a ticket, because his hands are tied with that Video camera running.

I know a guy who was pulled over doing about 90-100mph on the motorway when the limit was 70. The policeman asked him why he was speeding and he just said he was really sorry, there were no other cars, it was a straight road and the sun was shining and he just got a little carried away

The Policeman told him not to do it again and sent him on his way

I got pulled over once for speeding. The cop was pretty annoyed and seemed suspicious of me: asking me where I was going, etc. When he asked for my insurance I couldn't find my card. I was frantically searching all over my car. After a couple minutes he said that he had given me enough time and would have to write a ticket for no insurance too. Right when he got back to his car I found my card and showed him. I could tell he felt sorry for me. He said he already started writing a ticket and it could either be for speeding or for not having proof of insurance. If it was the latter I could show up to court with proof of insurance and not have to pay a fine. I of course did just that and to this day I have a perfect driving record *Knocks on wood*
