Bulky calves

Sorry if not posting this in the right section, but here goes anyway
Im really getting into running, i enjoy it with a passion, but lately, ive noticed (and people have pointed out to me) that my legs are looking tined (which is great) but my calves, i feel, are getting huge¬
Is it the running doing this? Is there anything i can do to slim the calf down -?
If i stop the running and switch to power walking, would this help? Attached a pic to show...

Without a pre-running pic for comparison to determine if your calves really are larger now, I can only postulate that your calf muscles are becoming larger and stronger from running and that is causing your calves to get larger. As you slim down, the fat over your calves will fade and the overall size of your calves will eventually be thinner than when you started, but stronger, firmer and more defined.

thanks for the reply, thats why i was getting dissapointed, as i was doing the running to lose the weight - and i have lost 14lbs so far with 7lbs to go, and everything has really slimmed down, even my arms which i was worrying about - but the calves seem to be larger - quite obviously esp when im wearing heels...

bulky calves

I noticed similar changes after running for awhile, but just llike g8r80 says after more running,
I 'm now really pleased. Clothes fit differently at first. I thought yuck; the legs in my jeans look tight now and they never did before.
Keep at it, all the benifits are awesome, both physical and mental .....

haha two of my friends were comparing calves at work the other day. One of the girls has HUGE calves from running all the time and she hates them. The dispersion of muscle is also genetic.

ive decided i dont care and that i love running too much - the front of my legs look very thin, its just the back calf which is huge, lol

ill aim to lose more fat and evaluate again then.

Thanks again for the replies

Compared to the front, the back looks bigger :-(
Pic to show comparison...Thanks for the compliments..x

Your calves look proportionate and nice. Keep up the good work and don't think negatively about them. Your gastrocnemius muscles are anatomically bigger than your anterior tibialis muscles. What's your BF percentage?
