I am a new member here and this is my first post. I am a 27 year old father of 3 daughters. I went to the doctor on May 24th and I was 270lbs. I knew I gained a lot of weight but never guessed I was that much. 6 years ago I was 178lbs.

So I decided to lose weight. Today I am 253.4. I have a long way to go but I am excited

Hi, Bruce & welcome to the forum. Being excited about losing weight & getting healthy is an excellent sign. What are your plans?

My plans are exercise and using my fitness pal. Luckily for me I have my wife who is a great support for me. She was 260 and is now 190lbs. I am proud of the 17lbs I have lost but also determined to get below 250. My ultimate goal is 180lbs

I like MFP. It's great that you are doing this together. It is so much easier with support.

Make sure to keep on top of your electrolytes, to prevent the lethargy and for some people cramping which occurs while your adapting to eating a keto diet. Most people blame lack of carbs for reduced energy levels during keto, however it is usually a lack of salt, magnesium and potassium which causes the lack of energy, this is due to the body not holding on to as much water weight and flushing these electrolytes out of your along with the excess water.
