I've read a few threads about breast reduction and other breast surgeries. I recently had a breast redcution surgery. I thought that I would share with you ladies my experience, because I would have liked to have known some of the details before my experience. I am hoping that this posts helps anyone that is considering a breast reduction or who has questions about it.
In high school, I had was medium sized. I was an athlete - and about a 36C. I was okay with that. Of course, as some of you know, I made many bad eating and exercising decisions after graduation of 2004, and went from weighing 140 pounds to 215 pounds. My bra size went from a C to DD.
In August of 2007, I started my weight loss journey and by March had lost a little over 40 pounds. Unfortunately, though other parts of me lost inches, my ladies went nowhere and I became very self consious and felt very out of proportion with my body.
In March, I decided to ask my plastic surgeon during a follow up visit to a minor wrist surgery about the possibility of breast reduction. He was very nice and informed me of the pros/cons/ and risks of the surgery. I went in the next week, where he and his nurse asked me questions, looked at my breasts, measured the distance from the bottom of my neck to each nipple, and took pictures. Then, they sent the pictures to my insurance company. Within one day, I found out I was approved for the surgery. The insurance company covered 100% of it -- all I paid was a $100 deductable. I couldn't believe it.
They set the sugery date for May 9. I went in to the hospital at 7 that morning, and left at 3. Different doctors believe in night stays, but mine did not which was fine with me. I was pretty out of it - as they put you to sleep and give you lots of pain killers during and after the surgery. They did an anchor type incision - around the nipple, a line frrom the nipple to the bottom of the breast, and incisions around the bottom half of the breast.
It sounds bad -- but in less than 6 weeks I seriously can barely see an scars. The ones on the bottom of the breast are covered by the actual breast, and the smaller nipple's scars an nearly invisable. I am so very glad I did this. You have to take it pretty easy for two weeks- but I recovered relatively quickly. No regrets whatsoever.
With the reduction and lift (that they do with the reduction), I have so much more confidence. Running is so much less painful, and I have NO backpain and neckpain. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to do this. I'm 22 - in case anyone was wondering
.
Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone could benefit from it. I'm open to any questions![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
