When im jogging i use sweating as a sign that im burning/getting a work out ... but sometimes i notice i dont really break a sweat, i sweat yes but nothing to wild... but then sometimes im sweating like a pig :svengo:

What gives ??

Sweat has nothing to do with workout intensity...

If you aren't sweating, it can be a sign of your fluids being off. Do you drink enough water?

And as importantly, I'm with what Mal said above. Don't use sweating as your metric... that's futile.

Good metric?

Rating of percieved exertion scales (RPE) tend to work well in determining how hard your 'pushing.'

In terms of improving, really depends on what you're doing. In the weight room I'd say rate of progression in terms of weight on the bar is a great metric.

In cardio... distance, time, speed, etc are all fine metrics to progress in.

Why would you think sweating tells you that you're having a good workout or not? What if you're training in the arctic? Does that mean it's impossible to have a good workout?

all good points ..

I just found it odd that sometimes i sweat, sometimes i dont , when i dont i tend to push more and go harder at it and now that i look at it i guess climate has allot to do with it altough im jogging about the same time every morning

Sweating is not a measure of success.

I did a 10km race recently and didn't even sweat at all, yet I did it in 45 minutes and got a very good result.

Of course it has to do with the climate, is this spam?
