Sport Breakfast

Sport Fitness
I was just wanting some advice when it comes to breakfast before the Gym.

I normally (through the working week) get up around 5am, breakfast about 5:30am and im in the gym by 6-6:15am where I alternate each day for Cardio (around 45-50min on treadmill/bike/cross) and heavy weights (mostly upper body)

I am aiming for fat loss and building some muscle mass (not to miffed about losing weight) the ultimate goal is a Sebastien Chabal type physique but it’s a long way off!!

My question is, am I better eating before or after the gym?

If I eat before I can have anything and I normally have either Cereal or boiled eggs and toast, but after the gym im limited to what I can make in my work and im guessing all I would be able to manage is toast, maybe cereal.

I’ve always had it in my head that it’s better to eat before so you are less inclined to lose muscle mass but ive felt myself feeling a touch ill after a tough session in the gym on a full stomach. Is it ok to just eat after?

I would highly recommend eating at least something about an hour before going to the gym. Any later than that and it might make your workout uncomfortable. I typically eat a bowl of oatmeal and drink a lot of water when I wake up, wait an hour before I head out to the gym. If I don't do this, I will get really light-headed and sometimes in the past I've even had to lay down.

If you're going to eat afterward, it's best to eat literally within the 30 minutes after a workout. Something high in carbs is good for fat loss but muscle-building.

Hope that helps a bit!
