Sport Breakfast food - what should I eat?

Sport Fitness
Right now, I'm drinking SlimFast for breakfast every day...it seems to work fine, but I still hate the idea of drinking something that's not "real"....I'm a 23 year old female who works out 3-4 times a week and is interested in losing weight. What do you recommend for breakfast foods? I don't like yogurt, and fruits and veggies don't fill me up. The only foods I can think of are cereal/granola ortoast..but those are loaded w/carbs...are lots of carbs good for you early in the morning? Thanks!

How about scrambling yourself some eggs in the morning? Eggs are a great source of lean protein. Just remember to keep your egg white-yolk ratio at about 3:1. Throw in some veggies, turkey, ham, etc. to make a tasty omlet.

Oats are also a great source of slow-digesting carbs. You can buy plain oats and mix in anything with them to up the flavor (e.g. peanut butter, sugar-free preserves, whey protein, etc.).

Toast with peanut butter is certainly an acceptable addition to your breakfast meal. I prefer Sarah Lee Delightful bread. It's 100% whole wheat, with only 90 calories and 18 carbs for TWO slices!

I would generally advise you to stay away from cereal, unless it's something from the Kashi brand.

Oh, to answer your last question, lots of good carbs are good for you in the morning. ;) Carbs are your source of energy, so you need plenty of them to start off your day!

Yes, carbs are good for you first thing in the morning, but a balance of carbs and protein is best. Carbs could be oats, oat bran, cream of wheat, whole wheat toast. Proteins could be egg whites, turkey bacon, cottage cheese. You could mix in a few chopped walnuts with your carb for a little bit of good fat.

Do you stir in a tablespoon of olive oil into your oatmeal? Sounds gross. Please explain.

Where are you getting the protein from?
