Sport bread bread and more bread

Sport Fitness
Hi

I need some advice. Am I eating too much bread, and is it bad for me ?
I have on average about 8 to 9 slices of bread every day spread out over the course of the day.
It is healthy bread (wholegrain) but it is bread from a supermarket (ie processed).
I am slim (6ft 2 and 78kg) and i exercise cardio every day - i have a fast metabolism. I am 43 years old. I also have high cholesterol so i am on a low sat fat diet. To balance this out and to get in all my required calories, i try and eat more bread.

Would i be better off buying non-processed bread from a bakery ?

Is too much bread a bad thing ?

Thanks in advance

Well it all depends what other carbs you are eating throughout the day as well like pasta, rice etc

Does seem like alot to me but everybody is different

for me, bread is bad. i don't tolerate carbs well (i.e. carbs make me fat), so I avoid bread.

If I were you', I'd drop most of the bread, in favor of less processed complex carbs, like oatmeal. steel cut oats, or old fashioned oats are best...avoid instant oatmeal.

in a pinch, plain Cheerios would also be ok (low sugar, and they have fiber).

also, go for lots of leafy vegetables. they're filling, fiber rich, and good for ya.

Whole grain or whole wheat bread is not inherently bad. I don't really know why people push that, or where that idea came from. However, if you're eating THAT much, it is bad in the sense that the nutrients you are giving your body are very one-dimensional. You want to eat a variety of foods that so you get ALL of the required vitamins, minerals, macros, etc.

I feel your pain.... I LOVE bread, but bread doesn't love my me it just makes me fat....lol

I just *love* bread and it is one of my weaknesses! So I tend to stay away and use foods to get my carbs. Otherwise I'd be eating baguettes of bread all day long! LOL

Too much of anything can be bad! But, given that you do cardio workouts every day, it doesn't seem all that bad, especially since you need lots of extra carbs for all that work. But, for the sake of variety (your body likes variety!), I'd probably spread it out a bit into more oats and pasta. Definitely don't cut it out completely, unless you know for a fact it just isn't right for you. People are going to say it makes them fat, sluggish, etc etc, but the fact is that if it works for you, then great! Other people may not have the same workouts, daily routines, metabolism, etc etc that you have - so if it works for you, stick with it!

My only suggestion is to add a bit of variety...maybe instead of 10 slices per day, cut it down to 3 or 4 and add in some pasta, oatmeal, with a little added fruit. Good luck!

I would argue to avoid so much, again, to the effect that you shouldn't be one dimensional in receiving vitamins and minerals. I will say, just an aside, that carbohydrates are what I like to call the only nonessential essential nutrient :D. Technically, there are not necessary to survival.
