Brachioplasty?

Has anyone had Brachioplasty surgery ( an arm lift)? If you have read my other threads I had a consultation about a breast reduction- it went well, I am not to keen on the surgeon, but he explained to me alot. Then we got into a conversation about my arms, which have a lot of excess skin. :( He told me that most all about the arm lift, and I am in a dilemma, I really want it done now, but I should probably wait till I am closer to the weight I want to maintain. The thing is, I am pretty sure I am going to go ahead and have a breast reduction- so then I will buy smaller size shirts, and then my arms won't fit. I really want it done, but I am afraid my skin may become saggy again after another 30-40 pound weight loss.

We talked about how I would want a tummy tuck to fix the skin on my stomach- which is starting to become very visible and more , I told him I was waiting for sure until after I finished my weight loss- and he mentioned how he could do the arm lift when I had my tummy tuck, or whoever done my surgery. I am just really torn, because I know how much it is going to suck to get clothes after I have my breast reduction, with my arms still being huge.

I would wait for the breast reduction, but my back problems are horrible, along with shoulder pain. I don't even want to exercise now because its painful. The surgeon also said I probably wouldn't loose any breast with my last 30-40 pounds, because I haven't lost any since I have lost the first 60. My cousin lost 30-40 lbs, and went to a normal weight range, and stayed the same cup size also. We are built exactly the same with the exception she is 40 lbs lighter. You get my drift though.

Has anyone had this surgery? Or does anyone have any input on what I should do? All opinions are welcome.

Thanks!

r does anyone have any input on what I should do?
Breast reduction is one thing... though I think you absolutely need more than one consultation...

at your age... at this stage in your weight loss process... considering plastic surgery is not really in your best interest... Your skin is still elastic and over time it will shrink back.. why scar yourself unneccessarily...

Hey there,
I can't say much about the arm lift, but I would like to say something about the breast reduction. I am also 18 years old. I'm 5'4" and I started in March 2007 at 225 lbs, I am now 164 lbs, and I had a breast reduction in March 2008 for my 1 year WL anniversary. If this is something you're looking into, I would recommend more consultations until you find a surgeon you're comfortable with, but I would say get the breast reduction first. You will be AMAZED at the difference made. Not just you're physical appearance on the outside, too. The first thing I noticed whe I woke up from the surgery was I was breathing easier. I didn't even know I had breathing problems. By the way I went from a 36 DDD to a 34 C. They're so perky too!! And you're shirts will fit sooo much better. But pleeease don't jump ahead and pick just any surgeon. I got lucky, and I found the *perfect* surgeon on the very first consultation, but it doesn't always work out that way. Sorry for such a long post, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents!!

Thanks KC- I have 2 more consultations scheduled. I was planning on searching till I found one I felt comfortable with. Thanks so much for your reply!

I just wanted to update this thread, and thank you guys for the replies. I have decided to wait till I am around my goal and maintaining- and wait a year or so to see how my skin will be. If it doesn't improve I will go ahead with this procedure then.

I am planning on having my breast reduction very soon though. Hopefully within the next 2-4 months. I saw a second PS, and like the first, I am pretty sure I am not going to choose him to do the surgery. I have another consultation scheduled for the 23rd. I really hope I like the next surgeon, going to all these appointments are annoying. I know I don't need to just settle for someone though, I need to pick someone I feel comfortable with.

Thanks again!
