Boxing as cardio...

I have recently just gotten a 50 lbs heavy bag and a pair of gloves, I am planning on taking lessons very soon...I am wondering punching the bag for about 30 minutes (all out flurries every 5 minutes) is good cardio? good enough to cut out my 20 minute run?
 
Yes it's amazing cardio if you do it right. Just be careful of your wrists, make sure your punching the "right" way. Hard to explain online, you need to ask someone who has experience. You could seriously damage your wrists if you don't punch correctly, talking from personal experience.

When I used to box, I used gloves and still got blisters sometimes. Its better than just using wraps though ; I used to rip the skin between my knuckles using those.
