Boxer Training for fat loss?

Being that i hate most conventional cardio machines, i am always looking for new ideas on how to get a good cardio workout in.

I have always admired the fitness levels that most boxers reach so....

Does anyone know if using a punching bag and gloves can be a good cardio workout? What motions would i use to get the cardio in if i were using a bag? Are there other boxing excersizes that are good for a cardio workout?

I have been debating purchasing a second hand punching bag and gloves. Looks like a lot of fun. :D I am more interested in straight fat loss then building muscles though.

any help or ideas are much appreciated.

Boxing workout

Jump roping burns 10 calories per minute and is incredibly easy. As for heavy bags and burning calories, I would highly recommend it. Not only does it burn fat, but it's oh, so very fun. You can buy a bag and gloves at any sports store, or try your local Goodwill. The Internet is full of great videos on how to start, but really.... it's just moving and punching. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the reply.

I am really looking forward to trying this, and the tip about goodwill was really helpful. I am going to check into it this weekend.

So, if i didnt want to buy a video (im cheap, i cant help it! LOL) is it pretty much just bouncing, and jabbing?

Eventually i want to be "cut" but i dont want to build muscle under the fat, and bulk up right away. I HATE cardio, so i thought it would be really fun to punch the bag, as long as it was a way to do a lot of cardio.

*excited*

thanks!!
