boot camp poll

Hi All!
I have had a few clients approach me about starting an outdoor bootcamp as part of my personal training.

While it sounds like a great idea, I thought I'd feel out this board.

Would you be interested in, say a 1 or 2 day a week, outdoor workout training session, using lots of bodyweight, calesthetics, running, hills type exercises in a group setting?

45 minutes or an hour, probably $15 a session.

Tell me what you think!

Thanks in advance!

Wes,

Boot camps are catching on quite a bit and as long as you made it "hardcore" I think it would be pretty well recieved. One thing I do think you should consider would be to implement either a short obstacle course or at least include elements of an obstacle course, such as climbing ropes, cargo nets, etc.

I bought a pretty nice 1 1/2" thick 13-foot long climbing rope for about $35 including shipping costs.I'm sure you could get some longer ropes, say 20 feet, for about $50.I also purchased a 10x10-foot cargo net for about $200.You can also make bachar ladders, monkey bars, balance beams and ring stations if you are handy and have the tools.

With the climbing ropes, you can set up two teams and have rope races. Each team member must complete two ascents and the "losing team" is punished with calisthenics or sprints. For the cargo net, you can do pirate tag where you put two people on the net, one person attempts to chase the other.Once tagged, that person becomes "it" and must tag the other. You go back and forth using a set time limit and see who is "it" the most often. The loser gets punishment cals or sprints.

I think your price tag of $15 per session is fair. For a hardcore program, I'd be willing to pay between $10-15 per session but that would be the top end.

One other idea to give it a realistic feel and if you have the finances, buy yourself a half dozen or so of those weighted vests, and have these available for your clients to wear.I think it would simulate body armor very well and would definitely make the calisthenics more challenging.Maybe use those for your advanced classes or something.Just an idea.

Check these out if you are interested in an actual obstacle course:
