Body Fortress Super Mass Gainer

Hello all. First time poster here.

I've always been scrawny but now I'm looking to change that. I want to add muscle to my arms mostly and my abdominal region. I kinda developed a little belly while in college so I'm gonna lose that also. My routine thus far has been 45 minutes of free weight curls, squats, crunches, and then 20 minutes of cardio after. By the way I'm 23 years old, 6'0 and 180lbs.

I bought Super Mass Gainer from Wal-Mart and I'm a little unsure how to use it. The label says "for adults use 4 scoops in 2% milk." Each scoop has 12grams of proten. I did that before and after my workout and I think it was a little much. I changed my diet also adding protein like steak and fish plus carbs like vegetables and fruit. So how much should I take during the days I workout...which will be almost everyday? Should I take some on the days I don't work out?

I'm also open to other product suggestions...I just heard that anything with Whey Protein in it is good for building muscle.

Help me out and thanks in advance!

What up markus,

Start slowly by taking your mass gainer soon after your workout. You are right about too much before working out. Too much protein before your workout can strip you of water that will be needed by your muscles to perform work. However, your body will be screaming for protein and carbs (both complex and simple) soon after training, provided you are hitting it hard with basic compound movements, such as squats, rows, bench presses, military presses, barbell curls, and the like, for 4 to 8 reps.

On days that you do not workout, I would recommend taking just one scoop (12 grams) of your mass gainer in milk with one to two of your meals, provided that you have added adequate lean sources of protein to your meals already. As stated earlier, slowly work up to getting the 1 to 1.8 gm/kg of protein to body weight that you need to facilitate lean mass gain. Keep in mind that excess protein, like carbs, can be turned into fat. That is why I emphasize taking it slowly.

With regard to other product suggestions, heck, there are many but some decent ones right off the top of my head are EAS powders and meal replacements, MuscleMilk, and Optimum’s Whey Protein. But many times it is what works for you. Try a few different brands and assess your tolerance and gains accordingly.

Hope this helps.

Later . . .
