OK - I will admit it, Im an oprah watcher -and I like her for the most part :) (small rant)

Some of her stuff annoys me, but I have always liked Bob Greene. I have one of his former books on exercise and love the ones in it.

But, lately, it seems to me that he has gotten too big for his britches. (Or is it that Oprah has rubbed off on him too much?)

Their newest "weight challenge" I think is a bit harsh. If any of the individuals mess up once, they are out of the challenge. How many of us could go through without ANY mess-ups?

Added to that is the cost of belonging to his website. OUCH! With oprah on his side, he is assured of getting millions of subscribers. Don't ya think he could have charged less?

I wish he hadn't made it so expensive:(

That's what I really hate about all these programs. On the one hand they do show what a difficult process this is. On the other, they perpetuate ideas and practices that do not help the people IN this process at all. In the case of The Biggest Loser, it's the idea that you should lose 30 lbs. a month; in Greene's case, it's the idea that one screwup means you've lost the battle.

I would have given up six months ago if I adhered to that philosophy.

It's interesting to that Dr. Phil, who made a lot of money with his diet book, now makes even more money selling diet food. He's become quite the huckster.
