Apologies to everyone for the lateness of this bonus being posted! It completely slipped my mind, as I've been pretty busy with work this week.

For those of you who did the last challenge, you've already heard me preach about how important strength training (ST) is in any weight loss plan. For those of you who haven't heard the preaching, ST help maintain muscle--so you lose fat and not muscle. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is, so the more calories you burn at rest. Also, as we age, we start losing about a half a pound of muscle every year. Muscles help our bodies in so many ways--they cushion and protect our bones for one thing. Therefore, it's important to maintain those muscles!

This week's bonus, therefore, is to do at least 2-30min sessions of strength training. 10pts for each 30min session—max 20pts.

Oh, and weight training, pilates, resistance bands, crunches, push ups, squats, etc count as ST. Basically anything that gives your muscles a good workout. The best is to work all your major muscle groups--not to concentrate on just one area. There are some really good pilates workouts on youtube that Wulsk posted during the last challenge for those of you who are new to ST. They will kick your butt at first, but just do what you can, and you'll slowly increase your ability.

If you have any questions regarding what does and doesn't count towards your bonus pts, just ask. :)
 
*sigh of relief* I thought it's going to be something awful! I do 30 min of pilates 3 times a week so I have those 20 points in my bag already. I hope we do not have to do those 2 workouts on top of the 300 min? Or do we have to? :angel:
 
ONDEMAND usually has some good workouts as well and they have target areas ones too

No, it's not on top of the 300 min. Just make sure 60 of your minutes are ST. And, you have to do 30min on 2 different days. 1-60 min session only counts for 10pts.

On the other hand I am ready for another tortorously hard week now that we are going to be in the second week of individual phase (next week), any tricks up that sleeve of yours BB?

No worries this week as I already do 4 one hour sessions of Strength Training every week.

Wow I'm impressed with you lot! I need to get my butt back in gear, hopefully this will be the week. I've been really busy at work and its extra busy at home too after a week's vacation away.. Keep posting about your routines please and put me to shame!

You know how I panic when I have to change things about.....
