Many of us don't consistantly get enough water each day. It's important for our bodies to be properly hydrated for many reasons. One of those reasons is that it helps our bodies to function well, helps our skin, and the biggest reason for us is that when we're dehydrated, our bodies hold on to the water it has, causing water retention, making the number on the scale higher. When we're propertly hydrated, that excess water is flushed out of our systems. Proper hydration also helps prevent constipation--along with fiber. :D

So this week's bonus is to drink at least 1oz (29.5735ml) of water for every 2lbs of your weight. 3pts for each day. For those of you doing metric, just round down to the nearest whole number. For example, if you weigh 200 lbs you divide it by 2, giving you 100. 100 X 29.5735= 2,957.35. So you'd drop off the .35 and drink 2,957ml of water per day. Or, 1kg= 32.53ml of water. Since I weighed in at 222lbs (100.9kg) this morning, I have to drink 111oz (or 3,282ml) of water.

So as I was typing the above post, my husband asked me what I was typing. When I told him he laughed, b/c I was also drinking a can of diet soda as I typed about all the wonderful benefits of drinking water. :sifone:
 
easy schmeezy, I drink that before lunch!

As an avid water lover I will admit it is really hard to convert but once you start drinking it you will find yourself loving it and getting 'addicted' where you feel sluggish and horrid if you dont drink it.

I hope you all enjoy it by the end of the week!
 
We are going to be peeing all the freaking time! (I already drink 10 glasses on most days...time to crank it up some!)
 
I agree with Amber - we will be paying extra visits to the toilet.

I normally drink two litres a day. I have done my sums and know that an extra half a litre will cover me for the challenge (I am too lazy to do intricate measuring). I have my extra half litre bottle chilling in the fridge now and should be fine with this.
 
I tend to drink 2 litres at work but need to be drinking 3.
Just getting it in at the weekends is going to be the hardest bit because i'm out of a routine!

I gained 2 lbs this week even though I was exercising and dieting! So I really hope I don't get eliminated because this challenge would really do my some good.
 
bmohearn - if you do get eliminated you can still drink the water and claim the points in the second chance thread. That is what I will do if I am eliminated. Almost all of us will eventually be eliminated. I also regularly gain despite eating in a controlled manner and exercising - it is probably more common than you realise.

Is your period arriving soon? It could just be due to that. I ate well and exercised 90 min yesterday, and was up 1.5lbs this morning from yesterday.
 
my vote, if it counts, is only plain water--otherwise you have about a million ?'s abotu this that and the other for poor bikini bound, besides everyone could benefit from trying out a new habit and THAT is waht makes it hard, I am not counting my green tea in the morning :)
 
This will be interesting for me. I usually drink about 60 oz of green tea (4 16 oz cups) or more per day, but I dont have the same urge to have water. I didnt even have bottled water in the house (I make the tea out of tap) until this evening, so no chance of my drinking 70 oz before bedtime. So it looks like I'll be substituting my tea habit for water for the week as there's no way I could do both (I'd be swimming!). I'll probably save at least 100 calories a day in milk and creamer that I use in my tea. Good luck everyone :).
 
I usually drink a 34 oz water bottle everyday anyway. And thanx to the Halloween challenge, I am familiar with the extra trips to the bathroom that are to come this week.

For this first day, I found it helpful to get started earlier- I skipped the coffee and went straight into the water. I got half down by 1pm, and finished the last of it with dinner.

Yes. It just came. And from all the water today... I am back down to my original weight (211) at night time. Weird. But I updated my weigh-in for the challenge too. Is that allowed??? I weighed 213 this morning, but at 6:30pm I weighed 211.0. Its weird...but my period always does this. Plus I had A LOT of sodium yesterday. But most of the water weight dropped I think. (i've gone to the bathroom over 12 times today. lol. WATERRRRRRR)

You're fine--you can use Thursday or Friday's weight for your weigh-ins.

To answer an earlier question--only water counts. Tea doesn't count--although I would like it to. :D
