Sol Campbell has gone on a crash diet to shed the extra weight he has piled on this summer.
The 73-cap England international turned up for his first training session at Newcastle with his famous muscular six-pack looking decidedly like a paunch.
He put on the weight this summer in the build-up to his July marriage to interior *designer Fiona Barrett.
Campbell, 35, who has signed a one-year deal worth about £1.7m, is used to weight battles. When he left Notts County last season he *admitted fitness had been a *problem.
