birth control pills and weight gain/side effects

Not sure if I have posted in the right place, but I am really curious to see if any of the ladies here have had any bad experiences with birth control pills and weight gain/side effects.

I just switched (3 months ago) to Ortho Lo from Loestrin and I think it has in part contributed to the weight I have gained. Over the last year I think I have gained anywhere from 15-20 lbs. It fluctuates a bit, but that's probably the average. I went to the doc 3 months ago when they switched me over and since then I have put on at least 8 -10 of the 15 to 20lbs. It seems a bit disproportionate to me, since I haven't changed my diet/exercise habits much except that I picked up kickboxing 3 days a week for the last 2 months.

Something else I have noticed is that I never wake up feeling rested in the mornings anymore. After a bit of reading, I see that fatigue is also a side-effect.

I switched from Loestrin because of my mood swings and sex drive, but can't really figure out if that's better or not.

Some of pills contain chemicals that my affect your body. Before you take pills you must first consult your doctor, they are the one who knows what the safe pills to you. But then some of the pills cause you to gain weight. So be careful in choosing pills.
