Bike vs running

Can the bike be a direct substitue or no competition I see bike as being much easier on my legs and my heartrate is still kept up in the fat burning rate but I dont really know does anyone?

Actually, running is easier on the feet.

From everything that I have read, exercise is exercise. A bike, treadmill, running, elliptical, etc. Whatever is good for you . I have found that I can burn a lot of calories on the bike, but I find it boring. I used to run, but back, hip, and leg problems ended that about eight years ago. I now use an elliptical daily and I am sure I am getting at least an equal workout to when I ran. As long as you have a means of monitoring your workout you will be fine.

Biking- Was wondering of any of you stationary bike users has experienced hip pain when exercising on your bike? I started using my bike on a very regular schedule last month, I ride about every other day or sometimes 5 days in a row with one or two days off, my physical therapist suggested I may be riding too fast or not at a good constant speed, meaning either too fast or too much tension on the bike, I changed this and it helped but now the hip pain has returned, any suggestions????????

Hip pain while riding a bike??? I also do stationary, could it be the way your sitting in it?
