Bike Ride

Hey everyone . This is my first post and I just wanted to ask you something .
I'm 15 and me and my friends want to ride fifteen miles to our local beach. I live in the UK , but I just wanted to roughly know , how long would it take for us to do it.

We are not obese or really fat , but we aren't ripped with muscles either.
We're kind of average.
The last time I measured and weighed myself , I was 5 foot 10 and I weighed 66kg.My BMI was like 21.7 or something.

So yeah , your advice would be welcoming , and also , should I take some sort of food or nourishment ?
I'm a keen biker and I like watching the scenary change and everything.

Well, there are a lot of variables like wind speed and direction, elevation (hills, etc.), traffic, what type of bikes you and your mates have, but you should be able to cover 15 miles in 1:00 - 1:15. You shouldn't need food along the way, but a water bottle is not a bad idea.
 
Yeah , thanks for that , I have a BMX and a mountain bike , I'll be deciding between them .

It'll be one hell of ride on a bmx though would'nt it ?

Yeah so they have mountain bikes too ... I don't know what type they are though .

I feel like I go faster on the BMx but hey , thats just me . Ok then , the way we will be going is pretty flat , except one big hill near the end of the route. I think we'll be able to manage it .
 
Ok , heres an update.
Today, me and my friends cycled 10 miles on our bikes and I use my BMX .
Well it was five miles each way.

But it knackered us out .
It was good though.

Awesome job. I think the mountain bike would've been better only because you have more gears to choose from. I'm not sure I would've lasted that long on a bmx bike.
 
Yeah , well seeing as it was 5 miles each way , I'll suggest to my friends maybe going a couple of miles more , each time we go out . I'm going to keep on taking my BMX and see what happens . Oh and g8r80 , I took a big bottle of Buxton in my bag so I would'nt get thirsty.
But there and back from the beach is thirty miles.If we keep going a little further every time we go , we'll be able to do it right ?
Also , is there a little device , I could buy and strap onto my bikes , that tells me how many miles I've done ? And maybe how many more I've got left to do ?
