Hiya all! My name is Jeff. My wife and I have started to recapture our life that was "before kids". Both of us were athletes in college; I played offensive line in football and she was a catcher in softball. Needless to say we were always big people but more muscle than anything.

THEN CAME KIDS!

So I have ballooned up to 331lbs and she is north of what she wants to be. We have bought BalanceLog to track all of our calories and exercise. I got my Resting Metabolism Rate and working on losing weight. We started this week and already she has lost 20 lbs. I am not sure what I have lost yet..no access to a scale till Monday at work and I only want to weight once a week.

We are both exercising. She has hit the treadmill and some free weights. I am working out at the company gym about 3 hours a day (1 hour before, 1 hour at lunch, 1 hour after). I hope that my work will lose the weight. My total goal is back to 200 lbs. That might not be attainable with the muscle mass but we will see. My wife wants to get to a size 14. I hope to meet some other people/couples on here to go through this journey with.

Either way nice to meet everyone. Hope to talk to you soon.

Jeff

hi jeff :)

goodness, the gym three times a day! how do you do it? impressive :)

all the best to you and to your wife, sounds like you are incredibly motivated :)

wow 3 hours a day, sometimes thats all i do in a week! sounds like you two have a great relationship and you have each other for motivation! :) welcome to the forum.

Thanks all. Motivation was to make sure we live long enough to see great grandchildren. The short term motivation is we are going to DisneyWorld for the first time in June. We are taking our little boys (3 and 6) with us.

As for working out three times a day, I am very lucky. My company recently put in a full size fitness area for 25 dollars a month. It opens at 6am and closes at 8pm. All I have to do is walk down, workout, shower, then back to work. I am very lucky.

So far so good. Balancelog helps us out a bunch too.

Hello to you and the Mrs.... You two are going to make a great team working on this together. !!!!

Update..well we are one week into this now. I lost 11 lbs this week and the wife lost 21lbs. Granted we know most of it is water but you have to lose that sometime. It is pretty motivating pushing each other and reminding each other of what we have to do. Makes it easy.

Thanks for all the kind notes.

SW: 331 lbs
CW: 320 lbs
GW: 210 lbs

Hi there! Just wanted to say good job to you and your wife!! my husband and I are on the other side of that spectrum....we just had our first child, and would like to be healthy enough to see him through to 80! Hang in there and keep posting!
