Weight-Loss Better Sandwich Meat

Hi everyone. I keep tweaking what I eat and I've decided to replace salad dressing/mayo with avocado. I find avocado goes really great on sandwiches. Currently a sandwich for me consists of 2 slices of Sara Lee "45 Calories & Delightful" healthy multi-grain bread, Sargento ultra thin mild cheddar cheese, and (now) about 40ish grams of avocado (and lettuce and/or tomato if I feel like adding it). Which is about 210ish calories (not counting lettuce or tomato).

Currently I'm using 97% fat free honey ham as the meat. 28g (1 slice) has 30 calories and I use about 3 slices. I was wondering if there is a better/healthier meat on the market I could use or should look for as an alternative. Also, any tips when shopping for sandwich meat would be greatly appreciated.

This is something that has often been on my mind as well.... Even chicken and turkey (while low fat) have a ton of sodium. The salt is part of the preserving process so I've personally given up on trying to find "the perfect meat". I'm just starting on my health kick so I was thinking on investing in a good knife and slicing from freshly cooked chicken and turkey..Then, freezing. What do you think?

I didn't think of that. Thanks for that suggestion. I just so happen to have a meat slicer that's been collecting dust; my husband has used in the past for making deer jerky. But using it to slice up more fresh meats meats instead of store-bought packages may be a more healthy alternative. I think the only problem with that would be the meat falling apart because it isn't processed like the kinds in packages.

I thought of that too... but I always try to remember what is natural and what is perceived as 'good'... meat isn't supposed to be perfect looking. Good luck!

Hello, Belinda
I agree with you, Avocado are good for weight loss and also have a great effect in this matter.
As for the meat is not all good because I think that white meat (chicken) are good for the body to burn fat.
