Best ways to lose weight fast?

I am only 16 with a BMI of 25, so you can see why I'm concerned about my health. I need to lose weight fast and I feel like food is controlling me.

So far, for most days of the week I do running for 20 minutes. I've been trying to eat less, eat more fibre, have less snacks, etc. But my weight just doesn't seem to change on the scales, sometimes even getting higher which terrifies me. I've read loads of websites about foods to avoid but I'm really not sure how to start. I just seem to have down moments where I eat loads then regret it the next day.

Any ideas?

The healthy range of BMI is 18 to 25 - so with a BMI of 25 it is actually only borderline between healthy and overweight.

At age 16 you are likely to be still growing... Far from losing weight fast - you may not really want to lose much weight at all...

I think that it is a very good idea to eat very healthily and to do exercise - I'd just question how important it is to see a drop at the scales...

Read the sections on nutrition - eating meals with protein, filling up on veg cooked healthily and have fruit for sweetness and snacks... Drink lots of water...

Try not to eat too many naughty things - but we all deserve a treat at times...

If you stuck to these rules and did exercise - surplus fat that you don't need would probably drop off you - but it is a good idea not to get too firmly attached to the idea that you need to lose x pounds...

If you kept your weight steady and grew say another inch your BMI would be less borderline and more definitely healthy...

For you - I'd say that exercise is a very good idea - and not just cardio - things like running... I think that exercises - including those involving weights would help you become more toned too.

I think that the toned look will be more like what you aspire towards.

We have an exercise section with ideas for different exercises and I suggest that you ask your gym teachers for their ideas too.

After you go running for 20 minutes, tomorrow you can ride a bike for 30 minutes, next day, you can swim or make dumbbell exercises. Get a cardio program and set your schedule. If no one of these I recommend you consult a doc
