Best time of the day to run?

Right now im running in the morning around 6:30am, ive heard early mornings + empty stomach = best time to run. What about night time? or late afternoon before dinner? which would be the best time to run to lose body fat? I'm not necessarily trying to lose weight, just shred some body fat.

The theory is that your body has fasted 11:00 or so if you run in the morning before you ate... so it will use up the stored glycogen in the muscles as sooner than if you hadn't fasted because your blood glucose levels should be very low... thus you would get to the point of burning fat sooner in your run...

Running in the afternoon before dinner would put you at a say... only a 4-6 hour fast...

If your doing it fasted WATCH THE INTENSITY! Remember your body has naff all fuel and is - hopefully - looking to burn some fat. Not the greatest pro-athlete fuel source.

If you're going to run in the evening/afternoon I personally would suggest doing HIIT sessions. They ultimately both means to the same end, depends on your personal levels of masochism.

And jsobo119, your body should never have found itself fasted for 4-6 hours during waking hours, thats just poor nutrition

I prefer running at night just because I feel incredibly slow in the morning. My fastest one and two mile runs are always at night. But my current running goal is a relatively fast 5k with weight loss being a positive side-effect.

Night time is the best time in my opinion because its cooler and by then you should be more hydrated versus when you first wake up in the morning.
