Best Post Workout Supplement

I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is for the best post workout drink. I am trying to gain lean muscle mass, and have tried protein shakes, as well as Muscle Milk, with little or no significant differences. Lets hear what you've got to say.

Muscle Milk sucks...

I use Optinum Nutrition's Whey protein with a little creatine mixed in. Any whey will do as you need the quick absorbing protein that whey provide. The creatine is to replenish the muscle's energry. Also, I try to eat some fast absorbing carbs like a fruit as well.

In general, you have to be in calorie excess to gain muscle. If you are not seeing gain, check your diet and/or excercise routine. Post some picture / exercise routine / diet for us to see. The post workout drink is only ONE step in getting muscle gain and will fail if your excercise routine or diet is off.

If your wanting a POST workout supplement, id say a brilliant tasting one is CNP PRO RECOVER. Absoloutly gorgeous man! 23g protein, and somewhere near 50g carbs.

I have been using a Glyco Maize added to my regular whey ( just cheapy stuff from Vitamin Shoppe but it works). I mix it 50/50 but I know that there is more of a science to it and someone more knowledgable would tell you the correct amounts.

The good thing I noticed is that it really seems to cut my cravings and I don't want to eat everything in sight before bedtime. Post workout I always take Glutamine too.

Then I say you're not eating enough. you need a reasonable calorie surplus to pack on muscle, along with a proper workout, proper diet, and proper rest/recovery between workouts.

Taking a post workout shake is nothing but 'taking in some calories' usually protein and carbs in roughly a 1:2 ratio when bulking up.

How's the rest of your diet look? How old are you, how tall are you, how much do you weigh ,and how many calories do you consistently eat every day...and what are the macro intakes daily?

If you can't answer the diet questions...you need to do some research.

There are no magic pills or supplements. Even anabolic steroids will fail to add muscle unless you are eating right and working out, and resting.

If you are into getting gains... Maltodextrin followed by Protein. Hands down. I would say maltodextrin is the prime ingredient in getting massive gains... even more so than whey protein. Because I can get most of my protein from quality meats.

If not, normal protein shakes will do you just fine. IMO
