Best one pill multi vitamin

Anyone got a recommendation on a multi vitamin pill? Hopefully it's not one of those huge, smell bad, make your urine yellow pills. Hehe, I'm currently using a naturemade brand...

thanks,

David

any multi-vitamin that doesn't contain fillers or preservatives, or a hard candy shell (like Centrum) is fine. it doesn't need to contain 600% of USRDA vitamin C.

If you eat like you should, most of your nutrients are coming from food, and the vitamin is just insurance.

My multivitamin is great and I would recommend it, but it's about the size of my little finger, smells 'orrible, and makes my urine luminous green. I don't need to turn the light on when i go the the bathroom at night, it's THAT bright.

If that appeals to you it's VM75 by solgar. :p

I just began looking into them once I bought that book on vitamins and minerals.

Anyways, recently, I bought that Centrum Protegra, the one that I believe is the best one they had based on their vitamins and minerals.

The only thing they don't seem to have enough of is Vitamin C (10,000IU). They only contain about 1,000IU. And they contain about 250mg of calcium. -_-'' Yeah, this is why I began to take some of my mothers calcium pills. Each tablet contains about 333mg of it, so I take about 3 of them daily (1,200mg).

1,200 mg of calcium is quite high, the top of the theraputic range. With other foods that may be too much.

It might be better to take some "helpers" as well. Magnesium in the ratio 3:2 calcium:magnesium and 2:1 calcium:phosphorus. Vitamin D (the one you get from sunshine, as well as diet) and boron are also helpers for calcium.

You'll never get enougth Vit C from a multivitamin, 1-3 grams is best and with everything else that'll make the pill too large to swallow. Seperate vitamin C pillstaken througthout the day are best. A good vit C pill should contain bioflavonoids as well which aid absorbtion and increase it's effect.

Bryn, everytime I look at my vitamin pill and think its too huge, I think of your post and laugh to myself. Hehe. Anyone try a liquid multi before? Or drops?
any pros, cons?

David

search for VM75. Everyone needs different quantities of vitamins so this one may not be best for you. The best way to tell is go to a nutrisionist and get hair mineral test/blood test etc done.

If you don't want to do that you could do what i did. I've got a book that lists all the symptoms for defiency of all the vits and minerals, and you score points for each sign you got (things like white makrs on nails, poor dream recall, frequent colds etc). You tally them up and use a chart to determine how much of of everything you need. I used the Optimum Nutrition Bible by Patrick Holford but i'm sure there are others. There might be some on the internet as well, you could try searching.
