Best decision ever to increase exercise

I have today taken the best decision I can take to get in that extra 2 hours of exercise per day...Most people would not take. Addicts to their cars and such but I have made the decision not to buy a bus pass that's right to walk to school; to work and everywhere else (except if it would take me more then 2 hours to do)...I think it's one of the only good reasons to live downtown

I encourage those who have the option of chosing. To choose walking or biking before taking your car or public transportation. ANd you know what the best part is I'm saving 100$ per month

Great Choice!

I completely agree with you....anyone who has the choice should choose walking, biking, boarding, etc. to get where they're going. That one decision can have physical, mental, monetary, and environmental benefits. I switched from driving to school to riding my bike, and I've saved a ton of money on gas and it feels great getting fresh air everyday. Congrats on saving $100 per month, that is wonderful! Keep it up! :D

i think thats a great idea! i used to to walk to/from work which was a little over 3 miles from my house when i worked the night shift. some nights it was none too pleasant walking 45 minutes in the rain or cold to get there. it was dark and scary too! and in the morning i was so exhausted i wanted to cry but i was at my thinnest at the time and in the best shape of my life! i probably would walk places now if i didnt have 3 kids to cart around.

Yeah! I do that too now! Just 35 minutes to the office and then back. I`m saving the money and I`m walking, which helps me to loose weight! Two good things at once!

That Is A Great Choice I Wish I Could Do That! I Just Have To Go Walk The Track!

Oh good for you! $100 a month is great. This is something I wish I could do: walk more places. I live ina very rural area, and nothing is within walking or even biking distance! I HAVE to drive everywhere!

Yeah! I know, sometimes you just can`t do it this way!

Awesome idea. It's spring now so thats a good option for me and coming home would be good because I have a pretty tough hill to come up. Me and my best friend used to walk everywhere last summer and it did start thinning out my legs :)

Walking is great too! I think it`s best for your health - it`s natural and you are loosing weight too!
Good luck to you!

to walk on the side of the roads here in america is shunned upon. "HAHA look at that idiot without a car walking". but i like to think of it as "haha look at that lazy!#$@# paying for something thats free". in other countries its perfectly ok to walk anywhere. over here is a different story

I also think that exercise has to be part of any weight loss program. I struggled for years trying to lose weight buy just dieting. Finally in November I decided I was going to loose weight by eating healthier and using the treadmill my wife made me buy :) I basically started eating about 1500 calories a day and have built of to jogging 24 miles a week on average on the treadmill with a 2.5% grade. I excercise 6 nights a week and burn between 500 and 900 calories a night. My starting weight was 250 lbs and I am down to 206 lbs. The last couple weeks have been really hard to get motivated again. I twisted my ankle and had to take a week off, and it has been hard getting back into the routine I want to loose another 21 lbs by August, but I think my goal might be a little to high. With spring/summer here I am spending alot of time in the garden, so I do not get to jogging until about 8:30 each night. I am thinking I need to find another type of excerise to mix in with the jogging. I have found that If there is something good on tv, I can jog for 50 minutes with out a problem, but now with reruns on, its horrible.

Well thanks for listening,

Gary
