best boxer of all time

wuts up everyone i was just watching some of mike tyson on youtube and personally think that he was the best boxer all time. I know there were greats like Ali and Lewis and stuff but I think that if Tysons trainer didn't die he would have been even better. Who do you think was the best boxer of all time

plus when you look like this I dont even know what to say

Wow. Fair amount of choices here....

Tyson was an animal in his prime, I don't think anyone could have beaten him before he went soft in the head.
Sugar Ray Leonard was always formidable.
Marvin Hagler could be pretty awesome too.
Ali of course.

Would probably give the nod to Ali, not knowing anything about boxers prior to my lifetime.

I'd say Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali. Joe Louis, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Lennox Lewis are all worthy opponents though.

Sugar Ray Robinson is #1 for me...how could you pick against him?? By far the greatest boxer. Ali is 2nd.

Sugar Ray Robinson - 179 wins and only 19 losses...109 KO ..I don't even know many boxers who have fought that many times let alone win that many.

Joe Louis. He was a bad mamajamma. He was a really great and classy guy throughout his life.

Also, because I am originally from Michigan. And the Joe Louis Arena is the coolest place ever.

I have to completely agree on this one.

Tyson was a knock-out artist. Tyson had huge trouble whenever fights went longer than 2 rounds.

i used to love the way tyson boxed. just pure power and animal instincts. he used to beat the crap out of people before they even knew what was coming. then he went all psycho and started beating his women and biting ears.... don't like him too much after all that crap heh

It's extremely difficult to compare from era to era because it's apples and oranges. In the past it seemed there were athletes who stood out more ahead of the pack because natural talent differs so greatly. Today it's more evened out because they all have access to much better training and nutrition (and unfortunately performance enhancing drugs). I think in many sports, an old timer who was head and shoulders above everyone else might only be mediocre against modern day athletes (how many HRs do you think Babe Ruth could have hit off Randy Johnson?).......Now give the old timers those same advancements and who knows?

Ali has to be up there if not #1
Tyson had the potential to surpass him until he went off the deep end
You have to respect Marciano's record

I have a fondness for Rocky Marciano

Hard to argue 49-0

Thing is though, they never did.

I choose...........Sly. :D

I think you mean Balboa.

Tyson was an amazing fighter who fell victim to Don King. Like mentioned, if his trainer wouldnt have died, Tyson would've continued to dominate. Tyson was an uneducated kid from the streets who was promised alot and taken advantage of. Tyson was a natural bruiser, he was knocking adults out (1 punch) for their wallets when he was like 11 yrs old.

Mike Tyson is a scary boxer. You should see his interviews on youtube..freakin halirious. whats wrong with this guy?
