Best Adaptation of a Book

Seeing Pineola's favorite movie list inspired this thread.

For movies that were based on a book - some are atrocious (that thread is coming) some are outstanding.. What are some of your favorite movies that you also really enjoyed the book as well...

The Stand - stephen king (OK made for tv but outstanding...
The princess bride - wiliam goldman - loved 'em both
 
LOVE ALL THE ABOVE!!!

Also i really enjoy the Harry Potter movies!
I have not been disappointed at all! Except when my niece who shares the HP passion, regularly leans over and says...."They left out this part, they forgot this.... I wish they had included that!"

I agree with all the above movies too...loved book and movie versions. I'd also like to add The Green Mile by Stephen King too, as well as The Silence of the Lambs. Gruesome, but really well done.
