Vitamin E is used to describe the various tocopherols and tocotrienols which make up this fat soluble vitamin which happens to be an excellent antioxidant. This type of antioxidant is able to prevent the creation of reactive oxygen species in the fat. The most important tocopherol in vitamin E is the a tocopherol or commonly known as the alpha tocopherol. This is also the most highly studied tocopherol with the most bioavailability.
