hello im 15yo male
would like to know the diffrence between doing normal bench press and doing dumbell bench press..
do they work the same areas?

at my gym i like using a bench press howver i go on the mechanical machine where you are lifting free weights however u dont need to balance the weight from side to side ,,u just go up and down as reps... i do around 7-8

my second qustion is weather it is better not using that mechanical thing and use free weights

my aim is to bulk, tone everything

feedback please:)

here is the deal: Normal bench press is more stable=less small muscles used. Dumbell press requires more muscle because it takes more to keep the bells stable.

I recommend using both of them, to get a round-about workout.

your question

I think the dumbell pressing is great, I am 16, male, weight 180lbs, and my max bench press is 265lbs. I have learned a great deal over the four years that I have been lifting weights. and have found that doing the same thing all the time is not as helpfull as switching the routine up, you see, your muscles get used to, or in other words comfortable with one exercise, when this happens and you arn't seeing alot of progress in a couple of weeks, switch your routine to dumbell presses to you shock your muscles, allowing them to grow more, do this for a couple of weeks then switch back to regular bench press, and keep doing each excercise routine different, every couple of weeks switch it. you will see great results. but the results may very from body type to body type. my email is dustin1087@yahoo.com email me if you have any other questions I might be able to help you with. keep lifting and make sure you are positive in the weight room, and your goals will be achieved
