Belly Fat and Running

I am 40 years old. I have taken up running. I started over a year ago. I lost weight at first. I am fairly happy with the shape I am in, except for the belly fat. It won't go away. I run 5 miles about 4 times a week (sometimes 5 times a week). I do not overeat at all. I also do ab work almost everyday. I know people who run less and eat more and have no belly. What is the problem? I would really appreciate any input you may have.

Eating less is not necessarily a good thing in your case. Just because you workout more and eat less doesn't mean you will lose all your fat. The body doesn't work that way. If your body senses that it is in a high output (work) low and infrequent intake (calories) it will store all the energy it can (fat). You should consider eating less sizeable meals for your 3 main meals and add 3 snacks in-between. This way you are eating every 2-3 hours. In a short period of time your body will adapt to the regular intake by not storing as much fat.

These are all essential nutrients, no nonsense. If you were only able to take 1 supplement, an omega complex would be best. This comes directly from Olympic coach Charles Stayley.

Lose that fat!

I am the same problem of trying to lose that last bit of fat around the abdominal region. What I did was actually increased my calorie intake a bit on my workout days. I did this by taking in a bit more carbs before my bodybuilding workout. It does work. I believe this method confuses the body system enough for it to start shedding the fat again. :)
