Cohen's Lifestyle Being fat is depressing!

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle

I'm back ....and fat! Previously, I lost 12kg on Cohens (this time last year) and have put it all (+ more) back on...making me the fattest that I have been for 9 years. I am so depressed - it's affecting my life in a bad way.

I DO NOT WANT TO BE FAT ANYMORE!
I WANT TO FIT INTO MY WARDROBE FULL OF SIZE 12 CLOTHES
I WANT TO BE SEXY FOR MY NEXT SUMMER HOLIDAY
I WANT TO HAVE THE ENERGY FOR DOING STUFF WITH THE FAMILY
I'M DISGUSTED THAT I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST PAIR OF 18 WORK PANTS
I WANT TO BE HEALTHY AND FIT
I AM A LAZY, FAT TELLY TUBBY AND I HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT MYSELF FOR MY FATNESS
I WILL BEGIN MY NEW LIFE .... NOW!

Gee that feels good! I work for a medical professional who tells her patients "You are fat because you either eat too much, eat the wrong food, don't exercise enough or any combination of these things......stop it!" some of her patients love her ...others are offended and don't come back (those who want a miracle answer on how to lose weight!) It's time I heeded her advice.

Problems I encountered last time on Cohens and what I will do differently this time:
Gave me bad breath
occasionally lethargic - up the fruit/veg carbs
extremely constipated - eat bran for breakfast (this is a must!) will exchange cracker allowance for bran
not enough variety - choose low GI vegies that aren't on list like broccoli & try more recipes
portions too small - I will up the kilojoules so that it's about the same as Weight Watchers ...I counted the points on Cohen ...12 points per day!!! no wonder you lose weight...this is inadequate for long term weight loss and very tedious over 12 weeks or so. 18 - 20 points is more realistic and I know that I can still lose 1kg per week.
Bored - I will exercise this time

Some of you may disagree with these deviations....but I have done this before and I did suffer the above problems. No, I am not doing Cohens to-a-T but surely it's better than being fat. Comments are welcome but please remember that not everyone's body can tolerate so little fibre etc. I congratulate you if you've done your refeed and kept it off for a long time.
Look at my old ticker 65 kg .....I am now 80kg!!!

Here goes.......I'm off to cook up some yummy chicken

Ps

PS
I will let you know how my deviations go with regards to weight loss.

I am not here to Judge only to Support

Hi Cherub:D

Welcome and no... I am not here to judge you or anyone on this forum only to guide and give support and return get the same back.

Read my diary for the full details. But basically I am of the same opinion as you I completed the programme and lost 15kg and - had put 8kg back on last week I lost over 2kg and I am following the Cohen Principals but not the diet fully.

From your above list I have already put into place all those things eg exercise, a variety of fruit and veg and the essential fibre and water intake.

I am sorry you have put all your weight on plus more but you have obviously come to the realisation that enough is enough and that no diet what ever it promises is infailable.

Goodluck and keep us posted.

Sam:)

I thought that was a very funny post, thanks for being so open and blunt about yourself.

I will comment on your idea of the deviations, though, and you may choose to ignore it, but please read it:

The whole idea of Cohens is based on the principle of using food as a medicine to sort out the hormones that make you hungry or crave food all day. In other words: once those hormones are sorted out, you go on re-feed, where you body is taught to deal with other food. It does not work if you deviate. That is not to say that you won't loose weight. I lost weight on pre-Cohens, where I sort of lived on the principles, but had no exact program catered to my specific blood values. BUT you will not sort out the hormone unbalance, which is the actual reason why you put on weight again, why you became overweight in the first place. So Cohens is not a diet, but will change your life and make it possible afterwards to eat normally (not eat unhealthy crap) and maintaining your weight.

There is another forum at

which just deals with Cohens. I member called Kristine has researched a lot of the principles why Cohens works IF YOU STICK TO IT SLAVISHLY. Her comments are insightfully and full of info. Have a read of them, and I think you'll be convinced.

Whatever you decide, all the best to you!

Kindest regards

Katrin
