Beginning the Challenge

Well, here I am...beginning my challenge. I am 37yo and ready to lose all this extra weight that has seemed to joined me since I walked down the aisle. I have gained 50 lbs. since I got married in August of 2002. My husband says it doesn't matter to him, but it matters to me.
I went to the doctor this past week and he agreed to put me back on my weightloss drug, Adipex. I had great success with it in 2000-2001, losing a total of 47 lbs. with no exercise. This time however, I own a treadmill and hope to lose even more. My first goal is to lose the 50 lbs. I have gained since my wedding day and I will take the rest from there.
I thought I would try from others when needed to help me with this challenge. There is high BP on my moms side of the family so I need to do something about my weight before it does something to me!
Wish me luck! Any comments or suggestions are welcomed! Thanks for reading!

welcome, hopefully we both find this forum to help us. I was wondering what adipex does. Is it an appetite suppressent? I have never heard of it. Hopefully the treadmill helps. I shed pounds fast from the treadmill, so do as much as you can. Even 1 mile a day is better than none. I find that if I tell myself just to do 1 miles almost all the time I end up doing 2 or 3 when I get there. Good luck!!!!!!

Adipex is a form of Phentermine, which is a drug that increases the levels of lantins that my brain produces. Lantins are what tells your brain that you are full. So the Adipex increase the levels of lantins released, making me think I am full all the time. The trick is since I already think I am full, I have to eat. You can't NOT eat when taking Adipex or any Phentermine for that matter. Portion control is the hardest to deal with. The doctor said I could sit down and eat a 20oz Porterhouse steak and not feel a thing, cuz my brain already tells me I'm full when I'm really not. Get it?
It is a brain stimulant, so you can't take it late in the day. I usually take mine around 7am when the alarm clock goes off and I don't take it on the weekends. It does give me energy (of course) and that helps in putting me on the treadmill. I am going to start with 3x a week and take it from there. No need to kill myself but I am going to get back into those size 18 and maybe even 16 jeans and shorts I have packed in the back of the closet. So tired of the 22's and 24's!
Thanks for asking about the Adipex, hopefully with teamwork, we can all be successful this year!
