Beginning running w/ a target

This is my 1st post, so hi to everyone.

I am 18, and I never ran, or practiced a sport involving running, since middle school. Not very smart, but...

Now I need to be able to run a mile in 6 minutes, by the end of the year.
This is not just because i feel about it, it is part of an admission policy.
I was wondering if any of you guys may be able to suggest a training program, or something like that, in order to achieve this goal.

Thanks,

Allievo

where ya going

Where are you trying to be admitted to ??? The military ??

I have heard this for Naval Acadamy; all incoming cadets must be fit and able enough to run a 6 minute mile.

which is kinda hard considering my best mile is 6:10

THAT SAID

you should start running 4-6 days a week of atleast 2 miles a day. I would suggest 3 miles a day and really play around with your pace so that you are well conditioned and can get on gear when you are being tested.
