Men are prone to store excess body fat around the waist. Strictly speaking, its not just the beer thats causing it - it is excess calories, of which the beer are part of. If you want to reduce that body fat, then you should reduce calories to a point below the amount that you require to maintain a stable weight (and yes, cutting out the beer would make a significant reduction), and increase your level of activity, maybe through exercise. You might want to take a look at your entire diet and lifestyle, and not just at the beer.

If you don't enjoy running, that isn't a problem. You can increase activity levels other ways. Find an activity - or better, a range of activities that you do enjoy. For example: strength training, martial arts, walking/hiking, cycling, swimming, etc. Combining an intensive activity such as strength training, with a cardio activity such as cycling, might be a good idea for overall fitness and weight maintenance.
