Be Realistic with your expectations

I've only been losing weight since Jan 1st this year. Where I made a new years resolution to lose weight. I didn't set myself any targets to achieve or timescale to achieve them in. I didn't tell anybody at all so I was under absolutely no
pressure should I fail. ( I told them when it started working)

I started by assessing what i had been eating and drinking to get me to 112kgs. Then decided to gradually reduce some items and eliminate others from my diet. Simple things like only having one slice of bread instead of two with your meal.
less potatoes or rice. using sweeteners instead of sugar. Reducing the amount of takeaways from 3 a week to 1. Having fruit instead of a dessert finally reducing my alchohol intake to its present level of 6 units a week.

The items i have virtually eliminated from my diet are chocolate, sweets, crisps, pasties, ice cream and coca cola. All gradually so it wasn't to painful like having a bags of crisps every other day instead of every day. now i eat snacks like
quavers and frenchfries which are both only 100cals but only one bag a day.

At the same time i started exercising. Initially a 10 minute fast walk (120 paces a minute) building up to the half hour walk / jog i do now. I also started cycling and doing a few press ups, sit ups and band work. I currently spend approx
5/6 hours a week exercising. During that time I attended a free 12 week course each session lasted one hour split between a talk on an aspect of weight loss and exercise. Unfortunately that finished at the end of april so i am carrying
on by myself.

i now have a five point diet designed for maximum fat burning. Starting with breakfast were i have a slow energy release cereal & cup of coffee with sweeteners, mid morning i have an apple. Lunch consists of a sandwich in brown bread
and a bag of quavers. Mid afternnoon i may have another apple. My evening meal is the same as the rest of the family. I have chips 2 or 3 times a week. Finally at about 10pm I eat a breadstick.

The weight has been coming off at a rate of a kilo a week which motivates me to carry on. I am now 95kgs. So i have lost 17kgs (37.4 pounds) in just over 5 months. That after my initial aim was just to lose a few pounds.

I am the healthiest i've been for over 20years. My Clothes fit me better and my self esteam has risen. I just want to carry on and see how far I can go. Again i've not set any targets.
