bad knees

Hi, I'm 15 years old, i play alot of sports, track inclued and and I've developed a tendinitous in both my knees. My doctor says that the only way for it to get better is if i stop doing high impact ativities for upwards of 1-2 years. thats a long time and i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to speed the prcess up.

Also one time my knee actually pop out of its socket. I know you cant make the knee strionger but you can make the muscle surrounding the knee stronger. I was wondering what excercises would be good for building muscle around the knee to prevent some injuries.

I had troubles with my knees when I first started running. I was relatively heavy for a runner (I weighed about 190 and anyone more than about 160 is considered a heavy runner, at least in many circles). I wore knee braces for a few months (foam rubber things that fit tightly around the knees) and I bought good running shoes. I kept running. After a few more months, I didn't need the knee braces and my weekly mileage continued to increase.
